Election Day!

Vote! Vote! Vote!

It’s the time of year again to decide our country’s fate

A day to put aside all the bitterness, discrimination and hate
Time to vote for the candidate who has our best interest at heart
The one who wants to bring the country together not tear us apart
Vote for equality and fairness no matter race, color or creed
Vote for someone who cares about the rich as well as those in need
Someone who will fight to make the country better for everyone
And will not stop fighting until the job is done

The candidates are so different, just like night and day
One cares about everyone while the other wants 47% to go away
One cares about women’s rights, economic growth and equal pay
The other doesn’t say what he means or means what he say
So many have died so we can have this right
So let’s pull together, stand up and fight
If you don’t cast your vote, you have no one to blame
If you don’t cast your vote, you have no right to complain
Vote! Vote! Vote!

Forgiveness

Why is it so easy to forgive others but so hard to forgive ourselves. Family members treat us wrong. Friends betray our friendships yet we forgive them. We forgive them no matter how bad they have hurt us. However, we still haven’t forgiven ourselves for that horrible mistake we made ten years ago.  We are constantly reliving that mistake over and over again. Punishing ourselves each time we do it. Forgiveness is done more for self than anything else. It’s a form of healing that starts within. There is no better time to start than today. Forgive Yourself!

A Flower (Written by guest writer Willie C.)

A flower is often seen for the outward beauty it possesses or the danger that lurks as a result of its beauty. However, a flower is much more than the beauty it possesses or danger unknown to the naked eye. A flower reminds me of a woman’s inner being. A flower speaks of the dreams in her heart, and tells a magnificent story of her triumphs in spite of her aches, pains, midnight rains, along with the dry periods in her life. But like a flower, a woman is resilient, fearfully and wonderfully made.  A flower’s inner beauty far outweighs the outer appearance for what a flower possesses on the inside makes the outside that much more appealing.
Some might say that a flower is the way it is because of the sunshine, and rain, but I say that a flower is the way it is because a flower reflects its true beauty whether the sun shines or the rain comes. I wonder who would have ever thought to look at the inside of a flower before deciding on the type flower desired. Like most things flowers will wither after a while, but one thing is for certain. What the flower has on the inside will never wither or go away. So I say smile flower, live and love life, and know that you a most beautiful when you share what’s inside of rather than just what you visibly viewed as.

Who Is She?

Who Is She?
She’s the one down on bended knee
The one you look at but really don’t see
You see her speak but none of her words do you hear
It’s like she’s so far away even though she’s near
She doesn’t know how to let go and be free
Nor does she know how to live and not just be
Who is She?
She’s the one who always smiles
Thru her many tests and trials
It’s a smile that hides her pain
Her tears and her shame
The guilt of her past
It’s a smile that never last
Who is She?
The mirror will always tell the real story
It doesn’t hide her confusion and worry
You see the truth in her eyes
Her shining light that sometimes dies
Her self-esteem that tends to nose dive
Her soul the reaches out and cries
Who is She?
She is … me

Forever Thankful

I am thankful for my blessings
My many life lessons
My prayer and mediation sessions
For they have shaped me
Made me
Molded me
Into the unique person you see

I am thankful for my journey

My chosen path
My many cries and laughs
For they have helped me grow
Each bump
Each stump along the way
Has prepared me for where I am today

I am thankful for my inner circle
My family
My friends
My relationships that never end
For they have helped me
Get up when I fall
Stand straight and tall
While supporting me thru it all

I am forever thankful…

My Soul Looks Back and Wonders

My soul looks back and wonders
How in the world I got over
Got over all of the hurt and pain
How I managed to stay sober and sane
Not giving into the demons who tried to steal my soul
And take the precious things that made me whole
My freedom to love … My peace of mind
My joy…My family… The reasons I grind
Grind so hard to make a way
Why I fall down on my knees and pray
For strength to make it thru the day
Offering each day all I have to give
So glad I made the choice to fight and live
Lord knows I have been way down under
So down…
My soul looks back and wonders

You Gonna Learn Today

News Flash:

Everybody ain’t always who they claim to be
They look in the mirror and don’t even recognize who they see
It has to be hard living a life of lies and shame
Having nothing good associated with your name
Constantly bringing drama and starting shit
Not knowing know when to just step back and quit
Mouth running like a faucet with a bad leak
Don’t know when to shut up or when to speak
Always in the beginning, middle or the end of some mess
Good for keeping stuff going and not letting it rest
One day you will be find yourself in something can’t handle
Caught on the wrong end of an ugly scandal
So go somewhere and sit yourself down
Before your business gets spread around town
You better stop messing with me because I don’t play
As the saying goes “You gonna learn today”
