I am thankful for my story
My chapters to be told
My book to be sold
For they have made me

My Prayer

Dear Lord, I come to you on bended knee and with an open heart
I have so much to say I really don’t know where to start
First of all, I have to thank you just for being you
For doing just what you said you would do
You said you would never leave nor forsake me
You have always been there just like you promised to be
I thank you for loving me no matter how far I stray
And for not giving up on me when I don’t always pray
Even when I don’t go to Church as often as I could
Or take the time to worship you as much as I should
You continue to shower me with yours blessings
While teaching me to trust you to get thru these life lessons
Even though I don’t always understand the reasons why
I trust you Lord and will continue to do so until the day I die
I can never say thank you enough for your mercy and your grace
With your angels watching over me, I will always be safe
You’re the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End
Again I say Thank you Lord! Amen! Amen! Amen!

“Precious is the word that comes to mind of a woman that’s dear too my heart. Cherished describes the feelings that are wrapped around my heart. Treasure is what I believe she is to everyone she comes in contact with. She fairer than any Ruby, Diamond or any amount of Gold presented for her hand. For when I gaze into her eyes, something changes the effects of a long hard day and places serene feelings of real love that removes all heart aches and pains as they tried their best to override her peaceful touch and soothing voice. I sat up all night waiting for you but you never came
I knew at that very moment my life would never be the same
Yet again you stayed out all night doing God only knows what
But I know what‘s happening because I feel it in my gut
All of the lies you told and thoughtless excuses you made
It didn’t take long for my trust to begin to fade
As I sit here thinking of how good our marriage used to be
Where did we go wrong… was it you or was it me
Did I not make your home happy or sexually satisfy you
Were you so unhappy you decided to do anything you wanted to
Running the streets chasing women, fantasies and lust


You broke our sacred vows, our commitment … our trust

You treating me like you do is hurtful and it’s not right
 I’m not taking this anymore so it’s time to stand up and fight
Time to put things in order and get back on the right track
No more blaming myself and putting up with your slack
So I will keeping sitting here waiting patiently for you to arrive
I may be hurt and confused now but I will survive

Real Love

No one has ever loved me the way you do
You came into my world and made my dreams come true
I was broken and you made me whole
You found the key that opened the door to my soul
Stood by me as I fought through all the hurt and pain
Held me close and rocked me while whispering my name
Told me I had no reason to be embarrassed or ashamed
Because the things in my past where just that… in the past
That the love we have is special and meant to last
When I was done you dried up all of my cleansing tears
Helped me to stand up, be strong enough to face my fears
I thank you for coming along when you did and rescuing me
Allowing me to open my heart, to love and be free
For showing me what real love is and how it can be

Gangster Chick

So you call me a gangster chick because I hold my man down
I make sure his home is tight while he’s handling things around town
Working to make sure his family doesn’t have to want for anything
Trying to stay one step ahead of the things the crazy streets can bring
But no matter what’s going on with him, I always got his back
He’s my man, my lover, my king so he’s got it like that
He calls me Essence, his love, his ride or die, his beautiful queen
He says I am the prettiest and sexiest thing he has ever seen
He’s a good man so I don’t mind doing the things that I do
That’s how it should be when your man takes good care of you
So if doing what I do makes me a gangster chick
Hell I’ve been called much worse so I will roll with it
